Q. First of all, how are you?. Can you please tell us something about the crash you had the past MXoN in Franciacorta? It must have been really disappointing for you to crash in front on your own home turf and not for your fault.

A. Well, let's say that I did not break anything...I did not really understand what happened. I had a fantastic start with the 250 and I was racing against Byrne, passed him, then right before the Red Bull jump I was in front of him and I did not see anybody around me but when I touched the ground, I was hit on my left shoulder and my bike was riding straight because it was "attached" with his. I had put all my cards on the second moto and my start had been really good. So it was a big disappointment and I could also feel that the fans were not happy as well).

Q. How important is to your fans' support? We mean, it is something you can actually hear and notice while you are racing or you are too focused on the race and do not notice what's happening outside the track?).

A. My fans are instrumental in giving me an edge, especially if you manage to have a good start and stay among the top riders, they can give you the boost to achieve the best results. And of course it is understandable that if you make some mistakes or something negative happens, you can feel their disappointment as well. No need to say, I am giving always 100% also for them).

Q. I had a look at your website davideguarneri.com to get some more details about yourself. Is it the site effective in keeping you in touch with your fans? How much time you devote to that?)

A. I answer all mails personally, it may take some time because I am super busy during some periods of the year. In my website there is also a forum where everybody can join in and ask whatever question they want. It works really well specially after good races..besides that, it is good for the sponsors and to talk a bit about myself..).

Q. Talking about technologies, do you have a page on Facebook? Do you use Twitter? Or you couldn't care less?).

A. I am really into technology, cell phones, smart phones computers and car audio, that said I decided not to have a page on Facebook, not too mix my public and my private life).

Q. What other sports do you like? In the place where you live (East of Milano, on the mountains), there are a bunch of mountain bike downhillers, lots of ski/snowboard freestylers, is it something you are interested in?).

A. I like all sports and/or everything that has a motor. I took part at an amateur level to lots of the most famous sports. I like cycling a lot and "off-road" running as well. As far as downhill mountain biking, it is a tough sport but I am not into that, I prefer road riding. Considering that I live in the mountains, skiing comes as second nature but I take extra care because I cannot afford myself to break something..).

Q. The start is always the most amazing part of the race. It is almost shocking to the viewers. What are your feelings in those moments when you are literally forced to fight against the other racers to come out of the pack unscathed? (see Paulin and Cairoli on the third moto). It is something you have grown accustomed to and it is no big deal or it still is a powerful emotion?).

A. The start is more emotionally violent for the viewers than for the racers. Once you are in race mode, you just think to staying focused and doing well. Of course you need to be aggressive and hope to be lucky to make it to the first turn still on the bike...).

Q. If you were not riding MX, what would you do?).

A. That's a tough question. I love racing MX and I would love to pass my experience to other people or at stay in the MX scene and take care of some young riders' image).

Q. Last but not least, would you ride an electric MX bike? Say that those bikes are as good as yours but totally noiseless. Would it feel the same or the 4stroke sound is instrumental in making a race a real race?).

A. Well, the sound of a powerful engine if it is not too loud, it is good sound for any afcionados' ears. That said, MX cross racing will still be the same, noise or not).

Thanks Davide and take care.

Ciao. Davide Guarneri #39
