ANTONIO CAIROLI WORLD CHAMPION!

September 8, 2014

On the Brazialian track of Trindade, Brazil, Antonio Cairoli made it to his eight World Title, courtesy of which AXO is, for the fourth consecutive time, World Champion!

In the sixteenth and penultimate round of the season, Cairoli has cliniched the World Title after the end of the first moto, reaching the impressive tally of eight World Titles in ten tears only.

This last title has a particular taste for Tony, as in this season he has lost his father Benedetto, the man who made him a Champion, introducing him to Motocross and leading him on the way of international success.  Two hard fought races saw Cairoli clinching his teeth due to a problem at his sight caused by a rock which hit his goggles in the qualifying moto on Saturday. Tony pushed as hard as he could and made it to the podium, stepping on the third step of the rostrum behind Nagl and Paulin.

Antonio Cairoli: “This eighth title is just fantastic. When you are a kid you wish for such a thing but you never think you can do it. It’s hard work but it gives you back many good things. I managed to finish on the podium in all but three races and that was good to achieve points for the season. This was a track that was nice for training but when you race here there’s a lot of big jumps and not many places where you can really ride your bike and make a difference. Now I will go to Mexico and it’s always my goal to win. Then the next big goal is the Motocross of Nations and I will try to be on the podium for the Italian team. I also want to thank my mechanic Nazareno who couldn’t be here with me due to familiar problems.”

Claudio De Carli: “Antonio keeps on giving us incredible moments and emotions. He deserves this title so much, and it’s also great for the Team, who has been working so hard to seal it. Thank you Tony!”.

A big Thank you to Tony also from all the AXO staff, who has been working hard to support him at best  and prepared a special shirt celebrating his eight World Title, with which Tony has been racing Race 2 as…a World Champion!!
