Tony Cairoli triumphes at Circus Maximus!

July 29, 2013

AXO has claimed the win and the third step of the podium of the Grand Prix of Germany, held at the “Circus Maximus” track, built inside the outstanding road racing track of Lausitzring, 60 km for Dresden.

Despite extreme conditions and searing heat at the temporary German circuit both Tony Cairoli and Ken De Dycker have put in stunning performances, which brought Tony to seal 2-1 for the overall win and his team mate to conquer the third step of the podium. This is Cairoli’s fourth back-to-back GP win and his ninth success in the season so far. Courtesy of this result and Paulin’s crash in Race 1, which prevented him to take part to the second moto,  Cairoli has now a gap of 108 point over Desalle (second) when there are 4 GPs left to go, while De Dycker has conquered the third spot of the provisional standings with 479 points.

An unlucky Sunday saw Davide Guarneri crash to avoid another rider and receiving another blow to his injured ankle, which forced him out of Race 1 and put an end to his race week end.

Antonio Cairoli: “I liked the track for several reasons: it was very technical with lots of jumps and the public could see a lot thanks to the grandstands of the permanent circuit. My race weekend was perfect but in the first moto I lost a bit of concentration after (Gautier) Paulin crashed. l was getting a bit tired, so I didn’t want to take any risks because I want to take as many championship points as possible. Then I got a good start in the second race and I was able to pull away and make a good gap.”

Ken De Dycker: “I enjoyed it, but I could have done even better if it were a little bit colder! There were nice jumps and it was technical and I’m happy to be on the podium again. I want to get stronger and be on the podium every week.”
