Raffaele De Rosa win the FIM Superstock 1000 CUP

October 17, 2016

Raffaele De Rosa won in Jerez de la Frontera the FIM Superstock 1000 CUP! The Neapolitan rider managed to win the series at the end of an intense and dramatic season that saw him and his rival, Tati Mercado (Ducati), leading the series. The last race of the season of the twenty-nine years old in force in the Roman team, managed by Genesio Bevilacqua, started from the fourth place of the grid. Raffaele faced the day, knowing that he must recover seven points from the leader of the championship, to win the series, but already before the start, it came the turn of events that changed the fate of the race, with the rival retired during the formation lap. Then Raffaele has managed to secure his race, while limiting risk and taking a fifth place finish that gives him the title of champion. De Rosa ended the 2016 season with two pole positions, five podiums, two victories and a total of 115 points.

“I dedicate this title to my family – who have always supported me even through the difficult times – and to the team, with whom I’ve worked for two years now and I am so grateful for all their help. To be honest, the race wasn’t easy. I’m sorry about what happened to Tati. When I saw he was out, it kind of unnerved me a little, it was so unexpected and I had to change my race strategy as a result. I definitely lapped a little slower than usual, but I was tense and not wanting to make any mistakes of course. I’ve been working towards this for several years and so am extremely happy that the result has arrived after all our efforts.”
