Great week end for AXO also in the Superbike Championship, thanks to Sylvain Guintoli, who, in the tenth round of the series, held on the Spanish track of Jerez, clinched two runner up spots at the end of a difficult week end. The French has been working hard on Friday and Saturday to find the right set up of his RSV4 Aprilia and his hard work paid off, as he was able to put in two strong performances to step twice on the second step of the podium and to close the gap in the provisional standings on rival Tom Sykes. Guintoli also led both races for a while, until he had to give up to team mate Marco Melandri, more comfortable on the Spanish track.

Sylvain Guintoli: “Our goal here was to make up points on Tom and that's what we did. Last year I didn't do too well here so I wasn't expecting to be able to battle for the win in both races. I gave it my all, working hard to solve the problems we had during practice and pushing to the limit today. The next round is at Magny Cours, a track that I like and where I know I can count on support from our French fans to keep fighting for the Championship. With 100 points left on the table anything can still happen.”

Some set-up problems prevented Niccolò Canepa to express his real potential: the Italian, aboard his Ducati Evo, could only work his way to fourteenth in Race 1 and fifteenth in Race 2, while Romain Lanusse, in the Stcok 1.000 class, ended the Spanish week end in eighth.
