Xavi Fores forced to retirement in Race 1

February 27, 2016

Phillip Island, 27th February 2016. Unfortunate start of the season for Barni Racing Team rider Xavi Forés forced to an early retirement, as he was occupying the 15th position with ten laps to go.

The Spaniard, as consequence of the crash encountered on Friday during FP2, got one of his right hand finger fractured, which caused him to struggle controlling the bike when breaking.

Due to his physical condition, Forés finally entered the pit lane, ending his first seasonal race on the saddle of the team Ducati 1199 Panigale R early.

Marco Barnabò, Principal Manager

"Unfortunately we just have to forget this race weekend! Since the very first session of free practice on Friday we had struggled with different problems that slowed down our job and the rider injury just added up to the bad luck we had during these days. I am sorry for that. We really wanted to make a good season begin, but this is how races go and we are sure there will be plenty of other opportunities to show our potential and aim to some good result in the future! Now what is important is to not give up and keep hardworking!"

Xavi Forés, #12

"I am really disappointed about how the weekend developed. Together with the team we did a great job and we knew that we could have been competitive, but the crash yesterday stopped us and made everything even more complicated. Now we will see what the doctors will tell us for tomorrow. I want to race to get even more familiar with the bike! I am sure we will do better in the next rounds".
