It’s come at last! After great results sealed by AXO in Superbike and Motocross, here we are with the first win of the season in Supermoto, too. Ivan Lazzarini has clinched his first GP win of the 2014 campaign at a sweltering Castelletto di Branduzzo track yesterday (north of Italy), scenery of the Gran Prix of Europe AXO, where temperatures  have reached 38 degrees! This win is particularly important for the long time AXO rider, as it’s the first one as a rider and team manager.

Lazzarini has been showing his class and experience all week end long: after sealing the pole position, he hasn’t been helped by decent starts. In Race 1 he was second behind World Champ Mauno Hermunen. In the first laps he pushed hard to pass him, but couldn’t and had to be content with the runner up spot as the chequered flag was waved. Carbon copy start in the second moto, where Ivan had it even worse: third on lap 1, this time he gave it all to conquer the win. After one single lap the strong Italian got rid of on Frenchman Adrien Chareyre and opened the gas to close the gap on race leader Hermunen. In a few laps he was on the Finnish’ tale and, entering the oval section, made his move on him. At the lead of the race, Lazzarini impressed with an unreachable rhythm and raced to conquer a well deserved moto win, which, courtesy of the runner up spot of Race 2, gave him the overall win.

Ivan Lazzarini: “This win has a very special taste to me. I have been winning a lot as a rider, but this is my first win as a rider and a team manager! Toady everything as been working perfectly, my bike was just super and I guess I have to thank my father, who is in charge of it, and my mechanic Luca for that. I also want to thank al my sponsor for their technical support and for being always by my side. This kind of things make the win possible!”.
