CAIROLI SECOND IN THE GP OF GERMANY!

After clinching the red plate last week end in Sweden, Tony has displayed a great show in the Grand Prix of Germany, held this week end in Teutschenthal, grabbing the runner up spot at the end of two intense motos.

Tony has won the qualifying race on Saturday with relative ease, but he had to fight with a very aggressive rival on Sunday: Evgeny Bovryshev, aboard the Honda of the Honda World Motocross Team.

Tony has given it all as usual and has given the vocal crowd a good reason to be throaty, as he managed to come back in the two motos: in race 1 he slipped as he was circulating in second and lost some spots. He clinched his teeth and came back until second as the chequered flag was waved.

In the second moto he took the holeshot but Bobryshev passed him at the second corner: trying to pass him again Tony crashed and had to come back once again, which he did. He closed a gap of almost 7 seconds in a few laps and once he caught Bobryshev again he tried to pass him with a few corners left to go: the pair had a contact and Tony lost his chance to win the GP.

Tony Cairoli: “I have made too many mistakes in this GP, that’s why I didn’t take the win…I am sorry for that, but I have to look at the Championship and from that point of view it was good, as I increased my gap on Desalle (18 points) and on Frossard (40 points). I crashed in the first moto and as I came back to second Bobryshev was too far away to catch him. Then I crashed again in Race 2 exactly in the same place where I had crashed in the first moto and again I had to come back, but some lappers made me lose precious seconds. In the end I caught Bobryshev again, but while I was trying to pass him we touched and I had to let him go...I am looking forward to the next race!”.

A good performance came from Max Nagl, too, who took fifth at his home GP and with a special edition shirt with the colour of the German flag on the side and for Ken De Dycker, right behind him.

A less lucky week end for Ramon, who was tenth overall after a good comeback in Race 2 and for Guarneri, who collected a DNF in race 2 as he retired on lap 14.
