SIMON AND SMITH PODIUMS AT ARAGON!

It’s been a week end of great racing and AXO sealed other great results: Julian Simon took his third podium  spot in a row, clinching the runner up position of the Moto2 at the new circuit of Aragon, Spain, while Bradley Smith took the third step of the podium in the 125cc class.

Simon was able to avoid a crash on the first corner that came close to taking him out of contention. He kept up the pace with Iannone, although he was unable to catch the Italian. Placing second for the third consecutive race, the AXO rider confirms second in the classification as a result.

Bradley Smith was able to return to the rostrum after a great start, despite losing ground on the opening laps and being squeezed out of the battle for victory. He upped his pace but was unable to catch the frontrunners, although third place was a welcome result for the Briton and his team.

Julian Simon: "I am very happy with this result, because we are getting more consistent and have placed second in the last three races. We've been fighting for the top places all season. The fall in Germany was when I lost my chance for the title, as without it I could have been up there now. The work that we've been doing up to now has been fantastic -we just need a victory to cap it off. I think that we'll get there when we improve the pace just slightly. I fought hard for this second place, much more than in the past few races, so I am happy with this and doing so at my home race. The remaining tracks are ones that I like a lot, so I'd like to put some wins together".

Bradley Smith: "It feels great to be back on the podium and have something to celebrate. It was a tough race made more difficult by my losing 1.5 seconds in the space of a couple of laps. That was when my chance of victory ended. I pushed hard to bridge the gap, but Nico and Pol were too fast. I think that I kept up a good pace for the entire race, although I was losing a lot of time in the long final lefthander. You always have the feeling of being able to do better after the race, but in general I'm happy with the result. I was lucky to finish with my tyres so well-worn, but overall we improved a lot this weekend and caught up with a lot of other riders. Let's hope that this is the start of a good home straight to the season".

In the fourth round of the Supemoto World Championship, held at Pleven (Bulgaria), Ivan Lazzarini has ended a difficult week end in tenth spot overall. The Italian ace is still recovering from a pulmonary bronchitis, which prevented him to ride at his best.

Last but not least, Steve Ramon took the Belgian title for the umpteenth time, before heading to the US for the long awaited Motocross of Nations, to be held in Colorado in one week time.
